Each session comprises four main learning phases:
1. Prepare
In this phase, students prepare for learning by familiarising themselves with the session overview and learning outcomes. There may also be preparatory work, such as reading.
2. Explore
In this phase, students explore the topic in different ways. Types of activity will include:
- Interactive presentations
- Videos
- Web resources
- Readings
- Online research
- Tasks such as critical evaluation, response writing and reflective writing
- Class discussion and exploration through discussion tasks, webinars and so on
Participating in discussions is a really useful way of engaging in peer learning for students and offers an invaluable opportunity to practise articulating student perspectives in a safe environment. Students can use the tutor-led forum to ask any questions they may have about what was covered in the session.
3. Review
This phase offers students different options for reviewing and evaluating their learning, including reflective exercises and knowledge check quizzes. Students can also review the session learning outcomes and determine how well they have achieved them.
4. Extend
A session often concludes with suggestions and resources for further research and exploration.
